What is sound?
Sound can be defined as a form of energy which produces the sensation of hearing in our ears. It propagates in the form of a wave.
The sound is produced by continuous and regular vibrations, as opposed to noise.
How do sounds travel?
Sound waves travel at 343 m/s through the air and faster through liquids and solids.
The waves transfer energy from the source of the sound, e.g. a drum, to its surroundings. Your ear detects sound waves when vibrating air particles cause your eardrum to vibrate.
The further away from the original source of a sound, you are, the waves lessen until they don't have the strength to vibrate any other particles.
What are the media use so that sound will travel?
Of the three mediums (gas, liquid, and solid) sound waves travel the slowest through gases, faster through liquids, and fastest through solids.
Air. That's where you live and where your ears are.
Other gases have several disadvantages. In liquids and solids, you can't breathe.
Vibrations in liquids and solid objects are only related to sound.
