What is volume?

dimensions are the length, width, and height. Solid figures occupy space.
Volume is the amount of space occupied by the object. It is the number of
cubic units that fill up a solid.
You can get the volume of a figure by counting the number of cubes
that can fit in a figure. If the dimensions are measured in terms of milliliters,
centimeters, decimeters, meters, and so on, then the unit of volume is cubic
milliliter (mm) cubic centimeters (cm), cubic decimeter (dm), and cubic
meters (m3) respectively.
