Answer: Preparation Material for the Home-Study Teacher
Summary of Daily Home-Study Lessons
The following summary of the doctrines and principles students learned as they studied Jeremiah 34–Ezekiel 32 (unit 28) is not intended to be taught as part of your lesson. The lesson you teach concentrates on only a few of these doctrines and principles. Follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit as you consider the needs of your students.
Day 1 (Jeremiah 34–41)
As students read how the kings of Judah rejected the prophet Jeremiah’s counsel, they learned that the Lord’s words will be fulfilled regardless of whether we believe in them. They also learned that if we obey the word of the Lord given through His servants, we will prosper spiritually. However, if we give in to fear and follow the world instead of the Lord’s prophet, we will perish spiritually.
Day 2 (Jeremiah 42–52)
As students studied Jeremiah’s counsel to the remnant of the Jews not taken into captivity, they learned that when we disregard the Lord’s counsel given through His prophets, we bring negative consequences upon ourselves. They also discovered that through the strength of our Redeemer, we can be delivered from physical and spiritual bondage.
Day 3 (Lamentations)
Students learned the following truths from the book of Lamentations: When we sin, we will feel troubled. Because the Lord is compassionate, we can find hope in knowing He will help us if we seek Him. The afflictions we experience as a result of sin can help motivate us to turn again to the Lord. When we live righteously, our lives will be better than they would be if we chose to sin.
Day 4 (Ezekiel 1–32)
In their study of Ezekiel 1–32, students learned that if we heed the warnings of prophets, we will be doing what the Lord wants us to do, and we can be prepared to face challenges and dangers that threaten us. They also learned that the Lord holds us accountable to fulfill the responsibilities He gives us. Students also discovered that the Lord provides opportunities for us to come to know that He is the only true God and to draw closer to Him and that we can choose to live righteously regardless of our circumstances and the choices of those around us.
