Directions: Read the dialogue aloud with the help of your parent or
guardian
Miss Santos asked her pupils to bring magazines, books and newspapers
Miss Santos: Kids, bring out your materials. Those materials are called
informational text or nonfiction. They give facts and ideas. I will show you
pictures of elements. Read your materials and try to describe each
element.
Susie: Teacher can I guess the first picture?
Miss Santos: Yes, sure.
Susie: There are pages and chapters. I think this is the table of contents.
Mar: There is a title written in big font size at the top of
the text. Maybe this is now the heading.
Marissa: I can see some important words written in darker ink. This is the
bold print.
Jowie: I can see group of words describing the picture. This is called the
caption. The next element is a picture or called the photograph. It is a
picture taken by a camera.
Joseph: I can see a map that tells the location of something. How about
you Nina?
Nina: There are topics that are in alphabetical order and with pages. It is
the index. It is found at the back.
Tony: I observed that words are given meaning in the Glossary.
Miss Santos: You are all smart kids.
