I've been thinking about switching to Metro PCS and I was looking at their plans and noticed the $50 and $60 seem identical, except that you have to get the $60 plan with the blackberry. Both plans seem pretty much identical, so why the difference? They have the samsung code, also a smartphone, that requires the $50 plan. Does the blackberry just do so much more that they need the extra money to cover the extra usage blackberry users are sure to use? Obviously I don't use a smartphone or anything so I have no idea what the difference is between different phones / plans. Thanks!

What's the difference between Metro PCS $50 and $60 (Blackberry) plan?

Other than the fact that you are using a Blackberry, there's nothing different between the plans besides price. You'll find this is common across the US. Boost Mobile is identical in plan pricing, $50 for all phones, $60 for Blackberry. Virgin Mobile charges $10 extra per month on all plans to have a Blackberry. Verizon charges $29.99 extra per month for all Blackberry devices. Its a phone that requires constant data connection and I'm sure RIM Blackberry requires all carriers to charge a premium for it. Boost also doesn't charge extra for the Android powered Motorola i1...
The extra $10 is for BlackBerry data.
