I dont like it when people refer to using labels to make them "Scene" "Emo" or "skater" etc. etc. but what alot of people refer to as being "Scene" is more about the fashion then music, its more about looking fake having oversized hair and taking lowds of pictures of yourself (normally it will inclued you holding the camrea) and Scene hair is usually black or bleached blonde and sometimes has random neon streaks such as pink or green in it, but this is not a must. Its usually very big and puffy at the top, the size of this depending on the length of your layers. There are many variations of scene hair, so feel free to invent your own, but be warned that it may not turn out to be scene in the end. The hair is the most important part of a scene kid: if you don't have the hair, you really have nothing. Also, get the hair before you start dressing like a scene kid, or you'll be called a poser. Black eyeliner is a must for all scene kids, especially the girls aswell as skinny jeans necklaces that have spiders, broken hearts, owls, Hellokitty, keys, cobwebs, skulls, and the like. However Emo is more about the music as some would say emos listen to "emo music" (Which is wrong, since there is no such thing as Emo music!!!) people pay to much attation (i know i spelt that wrong) to labels when all it really is, is nothing more then a word "Emo" there you go..thats it...
But some people tend to see this as a trend, having one sided fringe, black clothes and some eyeliner will make them "cool" so in my opinion these people need to grow up.
The answer is, just be yourself.
Simple as that.

There is a big difference. Emo kids have similar hair and appearances to that of a Scene kid. The main difference is in trends.
Emo kids tend to not change with time and trends as they come and pass.
Scene kids however, pick up the hottest items at the mall, but still maintain the hair and make up. More often then not you will see a scene kid where moccasins and have a pokemon shirt than that of an emo kid.
Emo kids tend to appear more depressing, they may not be, but they seem that way.
"Scene" is just a word to describe a person that is heavily involved in a particular music scene, such as hardcore or punk rock. "Emo" is a variation of hardcore-punk that employs a more emotional style. Its kind of hard to describe. Listen to bands like Texas is the Reason and Sunny Day Real Estate for examples.
Emo is associated with a stereotype that includes being emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angsty. It is also associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.
Scene? I have no idea.....
