Liquid- conforms to the shape of its container but retains a constant volume independent of pressure
Gas- made up of individual atoms and has no fixed shape and no fixed volume. Gases have a lower density than other states of matter

it depends if this "medium" term tells about a thing or matter that occupices a space or it has a solid molecule that can't brake easily it can consider as matter but if it's shows or tells about a medium amount of dishwashing or water are anything that can consider as liquid it can consider it as liquid matter.and last if it's shows the word meduim about anything that connects to the matter of gas it can call it as it.
