The substances in a mixture are separated by the differences in their physical properties, such as their particle size. The more different the properties are, the easier it is to separate the substances.

Mixtures have so many properties. Some of it's properties enables them to be separated easily. But other properties such as homogeneity, and small particles size can create a difficulty in separation of those mixtures.
