Whilst, a few years ago, HIV dominated the headlines, today people are more interested in influenza or tropical viruses such as Zika or Ebola, which in turn are covered more widely and frequently in the non-medical media. Think of the situation in the run-up to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016 when the Zika virus was a big issue in the media.’
