Photosynthesis refers to how the plants gives off oxygen in exchange for carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight. Then, in the process of respiration, we breathe in the oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.
Without oxygen, humankind cannot live. Without photosynthesis, the carbon dioxide that is the product of respiration will build up in the atmostphere and speed up global warming. Then, global warming will then rot the world until it is unhabitable, and hence the end of all life forms. Ergo, that is why these two, photosynthesis and respiration, form a cycle that is vital for our continued existence in the physical world.
